Biography
Ash Stemke 鈥溾imply composes music he wants to hear, because it is beautiful鈥nd manages nonetheless to avoid the too-well-known and trite.鈥 (Steven Kruger, New York Arts). Dr. Stemke鈥檚 music explores self-similarity, teleology, and text-music relationships, and was recently performed by yMusic, the Riverside Symphony (NYC), the Lee County Community Orchestra (NC), and musicians of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra (KY). Recently, his commissioned film score 鈥淟aunch Sequence鈥 was launched on a 238,900-mile journey to the moon (!) as part of Carnegie-Mellon University鈥檚 MoonArk project aboard Astrobotic鈥檚 Peregrine Mission One.
Dr. Stemke is a first-prize winner of the San Francisco Choral Artists鈥 New Voices Project and has been honorably mentioned by the MidCities Chamber Singers and the Uproar Duo. His music has been featured at events such as the TUTTI Festival, New Music on the Bayou, DIGITECH, the FSU Festival of New Music, numerous regional conferences, and the Schoenberg Academy in Vienna, Austria.
