Student Sections and Clubs

Faculty Advisors: Dr. Rupkatha Bardhan

The ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State AIHA student section focuses on issues related to industrial hygiene and promotes academic excellence and professionalism among its members. Some of the benefits associated with this student section is national recognition, AIHA privileges, first-hand knowledge of available jobs locally and nationally, and scholarship opportunities. All student members are encouraged to actively attend all meetings and contribute to the student section's activities such as fund raising, promoting speakers and topics of interest, and becoming more involved in the OSH department's functions.

The ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State ASSP Student Section placed 2nd out of 16 schools in the 2020-2021 Outstanding Student Section of the Year Award (OSSA) competition. The ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State ASSP Student Section received 1st place in the 2019-2020 OSSA competition. 

ASSP members are dedicated to making the world a safer and healthier place. The ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State ASSP student section supports the philosophies of the ASSP Purchase Area Chapter with regard to professional  growth of its members. The student section invites safety professionals to speak at meetings; assists in community service related projects.; and provides scholarship opportunities.

Faculty Advisor: Dr. Susan Miller

Students are nominated by the OSH faculty to join Rho Sigma Kappa, the National Honor Society in Occupational Safety and Health. Rho Sigma Kappa is a society dedicated to honoring and recognizing those students of Occupational Safety and Health who distinguish themselves through academic achievement and exemplary character; foster scholarship and promote student leadership; and contribute to the advancement of professionalism in Safety and Health. Rho Sigma Kappa membership is by invitation only.

OSH Connect is an avenue for OSH students to support and mentor other OSH students. Committee members hold established hours in the department to help any student who needs guidance, whether it involves tutoring or how to conduct a successful interview. The committee also hosts a Professional Development Conference and assists in recruiting events.

Upon graduation, alumni are encouraged to continue their participation in safety-related professional organizations such as those listed below.
