Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Psychology at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú is to further the understanding of the discipline of psychology through teaching, research and service. We are committed to providing the very best in undergraduate and graduate instruction both inside and outside the formal classroom so that students may acquire an understanding of behavior and its underlying processes as well as develop their writing, research and analytical skills for use in a wide variety of careers. We are also committed to advancing the scientific understanding of psychology through research and to serving the university, community and profession through involvement in a variety of activities. The Psychology Department further strives to serve students and the community through its Psychological Center, which provides clinical services to students, faculty, staff and community members and functions as a training center for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology master’s degree program.  

Statement of Concern for Diversity within our Faculty and Staff

The Department of Psychology and the university place a high value on having a diverse faculty and staff. We believe that having faculty and staff from different backgrounds and experiences is important to the education of all of our students, and it is invaluable for URM students to have faculty mentors from similar backgrounds. Recruiting and retaining diverse faculty is an important department and institutional goal.
