Graduation Requirements

Certification requires a minimum grade of B in ART 341, ART 342, COM 161, EDU 280, ENG 105, HUM 180, and MAT 117 or higher (or equivalent courses). Additional requirements for admission to teacher education and student teaching must be met. See advisor and/or Office of Teacher Education Services for details.

The baccalaureate degree is not awarded automatically upon completion of any required number of courses or units of credit. The progress and status of students in the program are regularly assessed through reviews. All students are required to register for ART 298 the semester after they complete 21 studio credit hours of ART courses. After passing ART 298, students may form a BFA jury and track in the BFA requirements. A final review, ART 498, is conducted by BFA jury in conjunction with fulfilling the senior BFA Practicum Exhibition requirement. BFA students must maintain a 3.00 GPA in the area of their studio concentration.

ART 342 and SEC 420 must be taken two semesters before student teaching.

EDU 485 and SEC 422 must be taken one semester before student teaching.
