MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 The 糖心logo入口 Shakespeare Festival is proud to announce an expanded lineup of performances for its 2024 season. Kentucky Shakespeare鈥檚 professional traveling company will perform the lively Shakespearean comedy 鈥淎 Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream鈥 on March 6-9.
In 鈥淎 Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream,鈥 reality is not always what it appears to be. Two Athenian couples escape to the forest when their relationships are challenged by circumstances beyond their control. When a chaos-loving fairy decides to play tricks on them, pandemonium and hijinks ensue. In this hilarious comedy, Shakespeare鈥檚 characters face difficulties in love, the constant intrusion of chaos and the bizarre side effects of fairy magic that does not always work exactly as intended. The play invites the audience to consider timeless themes including dream versus reality, the complications of love and what it means to be human.
Daytime performances will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, and Thursday, March 7 at Lovett Auditorium. There will also be an evening performance at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.
Tickets will be available at the door. Cost is $5 for students and 糖心logo入口 state faculty and staff (with ID) or $10 for the general public.
