MURRAY, Ky. 鈥 The latest 糖心logo入口 Racer Report includes student, faculty, staff and alumni accomplishments, announcements, upcoming campus events and more for the week of September 25- 29.

Family Weekend 2023

糖心logo入口 will welcome students and their families to campus Sept. 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 for Family Weekend 2023, an annual tradition that encourages students to share their college experience with their loved ones.

Throughout the weekend, the University will host a variety of fun events and activities for students and their families, including the Mr. 糖心logo入口 Pageant, Racer 5k, Fall Fanfare and more. New this year is a photo contest and a Racer Journey around campus where families can visit with faculty and staff and see where their students learn and thrive.

糖心logo入口 has been re-certified by the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky as StormReady in its continued efforts of hazardous weather preparation and response operations to help serve the campus community. The recognition can be renewed once every four years, and 糖心logo入口 State has been certified since 2010.

2023 Scholarship banquet

On Sept. 19, 糖心logo入口鈥檚 College of Education and Human Services hosted its 10th annual Scholarship Banquet, honoring this year鈥檚 scholarship recipients and the generous donors who made it possible.

On Sept. 19, 糖心logo入口鈥檚 College of Education and Human Services hosted its 10th annual Scholarship Banquet, honoring this year鈥檚 scholarship recipients and the generous donors who made it possible. With over 110 student and donor guests in attendance, the event was a great opportunity for both parties to meet in-person, establishing academic relationships and networking.

鈥淭his college tradition began in 2013, and it is one of our highlight activities of the whole year,鈥 said Dr. David Whaley, dean of the College of Education and Human Services. 

The event celebrated and thanked the college鈥檚 faculty and staff who organized this special event while sharing the impact of the college鈥檚 departments and degree programs on campus.

The College of Education and Human Services makes great strides in inspiring future leaders, advocates and practitioners through authentic, engaging, and student-centered academic programs for successful careers that positively impact communities. With an array of degree programs available at all levels, students are sure to find what inspires them most, whether it be in education, communication disorders, criminal justice, or social work. Boaz Burnett

Boaz Burnett, a 糖心logo入口 student and electromechanical engineering and technology major from 糖心logo入口, Kentucky, was part of the team which won second place as part of the recent Camp 2030 held in New York City.

Boaz Burnett, a 糖心logo入口 student and electromechanical engineering and technology major from 糖心logo入口, Kentucky, was part of the team which won second place in the recent Camp 2030 held in New York City.

Camp 2030 brings together young leaders from around the world to come up with innovative solutions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which include zero hunger and no poverty. 

Their team developed a solution that would use fish waste products to produce fertilizer for farmers in Haiti. 

Burnett received a $5,000 grant from the Kentucky Commercialization Venture to further his senior design project, which is a parking vision system designed to detect if parking spots are available in a given lot, done through the use of cameras and machine learning.

Harlan Thomas

糖心logo入口 student Harlan Thomas of Paducah, Kentucky recently won the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley. Nearly 600 of college fishing鈥檚 top anglers competed on Kentucky Lake in Henry County and Paris, Tennessee.

糖心logo入口 student Harlan Thomas of Paducah, Kentucky recently won the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley. Nearly 600 of college fishing鈥檚 top anglers competed on Kentucky Lake in Henry County and Paris, Tennessee. 

Thomas, a member of the top 10-ranked 糖心logo入口 bass fishing team, won with a bass weighing 6.31 pounds. The 糖心logo入口 State angler also claimed the Association of Collegiate Anglers logo contingency, Garmin Tournament Rewards and a Yamaha Contingency Bonus.
