Both the campus and greater community are invited to attend and participate in Black heritage events from February through May

and greater community to celebrate Black heritage throughout Black History Month in

糖心logo入口 is co-sponsoring a regional diversity conference Feb. 2-3 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Presenters include 糖心logo入口 State Executive Director of the Office of Multicultural Initiatives, Student Leadership and Inclusive Excellence Dr. SG Carthell, 糖心logo入口 State Director of the Women鈥檚 Center and Pride Center Abigail Cox and 糖心logo入口 State alumnus and Chief Diversity Officer for Purdue University Fort Wayne Dr. MarTeze Hammonds. Other sponsors include Brescia University, Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro Community & Technical College and Western Kentucky University. Both in person and zoom attendance is available. Black Student Council Week will take place Feb. 6-10. Activities include a dodge ball tournament, a movie night and a bowling night.
On Feb. 8 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Branden Higginson, 糖心logo入口 State alumnus and social studies teacher at Madisonville North Hopkins High School in Madisonville, Kentucky, will be the featured speaker for the Multicultural Initiatives Success Lunch. Subsequent speakers of the lunch series will include Marcus Turnley, a certified physician assistant at Mercy Health in Paducah, Kentucky (Mar. 8) and Ryan Hudson, a 糖心logo入口 State alumnus and detective with the Paducah Police Department (April 12).
On Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. inside the CFSB Center, 糖心logo入口 State Athletics presents 鈥淭he Loyola Project,鈥 a special documentary on the 1963 Loyola Ramblers men鈥檚 basketball team. A film screening and panel presentation will take place that evening. Additional information on the documentary is available at .
"Crowns" by Regina Taylor and directed by 糖心logo入口 State's Stephen D. Keene, will take place Feb. 10-12 at Playhouse in the Park in 糖心logo入口, Kentucky. The play is an adaptation from the book written by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. Additional details, including ticket information, is available at .
Multicultural Initiatives will host the 5th Annual Diversity Ball on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. in the H.C. Franklin Commons. This semi-formal event will celebrate the rich diversity of music and culture that exists at 糖心logo入口 State. This event is co-sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, the Emerging Scholars Institute, Black Student Council and the International Student Organization.
Multicultural Initiatives will host a Brother 2 Brother Super Bowl party on Feb. 12 from 5-9 p.m. in the Dr. Marvin D. Mills Multicultural Center. Multicultural Initiatives created Brother 2 Brother as a support group to promote a sense of belonging and to provide leadership and mentoring opportunities for male students of color on campus.
Multicultural Initiatives will host a Sister 2 Sister 鈥淧aint 鈥楴 Sip鈥 event on Feb. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Dr. Marvin D. Mills Multicultural Center. Multicultural Initiatives created Sister 2 Sister as a support group to promote a sense of belonging and to provide leadership and mentoring opportunities for female students of color on campus.
Dr. Brian Clardy, associate professor of history at 糖心logo入口 State and chair of the Kentucky Humanities Council Board of Directors, will be the featured speaker as part of the Multicultural Initiatives Black Heritage Lecture Series on Feb. 20 from 5:30-7 p.m. in room 228 of the Blackburn Science building.
Multicultural Initiatives and Racer Dining by Sodexo will host a Black Heritage Trivia Bowl and Soul Food Dinner in Winslow Dining Hall on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. To register a team, contact the Multicultural Initiatives office at 270-809-6836.
