Honors College student and Presidential Fellow Rachel McClung is already making a great impression on her new Racer family. Her enthusiasm, positive attitude, and stellar work ethic will take her far in life. Meet Rachel!

Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Rachel McClung, and I am from Caldwell County, Kentucky. I am a freshman at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú, and I graduated from Caldwell County High School. I am a music lover and nature enthusiast, and I love all things sports-related. I am also a third-generation ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State student!

What’s your major, and why did you choose it? What would you like to do after graduation?
My major is exercise science with a focus on pre-medicine, and I want to attend medical school and pursue a career in orthopedics. I chose exercise science pre-med because I get the benefit of taking the core science classes while also having a hands-on approach to studying the human body.

Aside from studying, how do you spend your time?
When I am not studying, you will most likely find me playing intramurals, hiking, singing and playing guitar, painting, or just reading a book! I also spend much of my time being involved with the Baptist Campus Ministry at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State.

Why did you choose ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State?
I chose ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State because I felt that the faculty and staff at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú make a huge effort to connect with students and have a real impact on our lives. I have never felt more encouraged by advisors, professors, and employers than I have at ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú. Every interaction I have is so intentional and geared towards making my college experience fruitful and worthwhile!

If you haven’t studied abroad yet, where would you like to go?
I would like to study abroad in a country that is primarily Spanish-speaking, hopefully in Spain! I believe that knowing multiple languages is an essential trade, and there is no better way to do this than through immersion learning. I am also a bit of a history lover, and I specifically gravitate toward architecture and art during the Renaissance. I would love to be able to take advantage of traveling in that area to explore some of the region's cultural art pieces.
