MARC
Welcome to the Mapping Applications and Resource Center
July 1st, 2017, the Mid-America Remote sensing Center (MARC) was rechristened as the "Mapping Applications and Resource Center." Geospatial technologies have progressed in fantastic ways since MARC was originally founded in 1979. Our renaming is to better communicate the variety of spatial endeavors ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú faculty, staff, and student engage in and the services we offer. Remote sensing of the environment will always be an important component of our educational and research efforts but we encompass many more spatial technologies, methods, and techniques.
MARC is the heart of geospatial education for ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú and surrounding community. We invite all to engage with MARC to further your education in one of the fastest growing employment sectors in the North America and Europe: geospatial technologies.
Esri and ArcGIS Support
MARC supports the use of Esri ArcGIS products across campus. ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State/MARC partners with Kentucky's Council on Post-secondary Education (CPE) and Esri to help bring the industry-leading geospatial software products to ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State.
Beginning Fall 2021 ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State faculty, staff, and students can use their ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State credentials to gain access to our ArcGIS Online for Education environment, including ArcGIS Pro.
Hexagon-ERDAS Imagine
MARC also supports Hexagon-ERDAS Imagine Professional image processing software. ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú
State/MARC does not have a campus-wide license for Imagine, so users must be enrolled
in one of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences remote sensing courses
to gain access to the software.
For students, we do have a limited number of student licenses. Requests for the licenses
must be initiated by the course professor or faculty/staff mentor.
Need assistance with a mapping project or a map graphic?
MARC encourages all ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú campus administrative offices and academic areas to approach us with mapping needs. We provide custom mapping and associated cartographic and graphic services. Our products can be customized for a wide variety of projects and publications. We have produced content for the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Center for Adult and Regional Education, Adventures in Math and Science (AIMS), Facilities Management, and the ÌÇÐÄlogoÈë¿Ú State Police Department. If your project requires a mapping component or could use a eye-catching map graphic, contact us and we will consult with you on your project.
